At the Inter-Island Festival
People jumped on the Inter-Island Ferry and made their way between Cheung Chau, Mui Wo, Chi Ma Wan and Peng Chau to take part in the Inter-Island Festival, which was held over four weekends from November 4 to 26. Popular events in Mui Wo included an Island Bee & Bee Workshop, where attendees learnt to make bamboo BnBs for solitary bees, and a Mui Wo Sunset Stroll, which involved a tour of various festival exhibits and installations (including the Mui Wo Time Portal) and drop-ins at Pause Studio and The Humble Room. CBRE Lantau 2 Peaks in T3
CBRE Lantau 2 Peaks, held on October 8, saw Australian national Vlad Ixel and Lantau resident Zein Williams taking male and female solo wins under T3 conditions. Over 550 participants ran from Tung Chung up to Nei Lek Shan ( just north of Ngong Ping), before heading back to Tung Chung over a 15.5 km course. [PHOTOS COURTESY OF Action Asia Events.]
Beating the Sun
At Barclays MoonTrekker, October 13 to 14, participants were challenged to make it to the summit of Lantau Peak before dawn. There were three routes this year – 40km, 30km and 18km – all starting in Mui Wo and finishing in Cheung Sha. [PHOTOS COURTESY OF Barclays MoonTrekker.]
At Buddha You Run
Some 2,000 people took part in Buddha You Run on November 4, running solo or as part of a team over 3km, 8km and 13km distances. Tackling the beast
In the TransLantau by UTMB, runners traverse Lantau, choosing between four distances – 25km, 50km, 100km and 140km. This year, DBIS was part of the action, hosting the final checkpoint on November 11 and 12. Students, staff and DBers were there on the final morning to cheer on the school’s Head of Year 9, Neil O’Maonaigh-Lennon, as he passed through the checkpoint on his way to the 140km finish line in Mui Wo. At the Treasure Island Sunday Market
Lantauers spent a fun day at the Treasure Island Sunday Market on October 15. The food and handicraft stalls were provided by local artisans and there was live music from 1pm to 5pm. [PHOTOS BY Sarin Ale.]
At the DB Dragon Boat Gala
